Indications

Recommended Uses:

BCPOD 50 is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate bacterial infections, including:

  • Acute otitis media (middle ear infection)
  • Pharyngitis/tonsillitis (throat infections)
  • Acute maxillary sinusitis
  • Community-acquired pneumonia
  • Skin and soft tissue infections

Use only for bacterial infections as prescribed. Not effective against viral infections like the common cold or flu.

Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage:

Children (2 months to 12 years): 5mg/kg body weight every 12 hours, not exceeding 200mg/day, for 5–10 days as prescribed.
Adolescents and adults (if prescribed): Consult a physician for appropriate dosing.

Administration:

  • Reconstitute with boiled and cooled water as per instructions
  • Shake well before each use
  • Administer with or without food using the provided measuring device
  • Complete the full course to prevent antibiotic resistance

Do not skip doses or stop early, even if symptoms improve. Consult a doctor if no improvement is seen after 3 days.

Side Effects & Warnings

Serious Side Effects (Seek Medical Attention Immediately):

Contraindications:

Do NOT use BCPOD 50 if you:

  • Are hypersensitive to cefpodoxime or cephalosporins
  • Have a history of severe allergic reactions to penicillins or beta-lactam antibiotics
  • Have a known allergy to any component of the suspension
Storage Information

Storage Conditions:

  • Store dry powder at room temperature (15–30°C)
  • Store reconstituted suspension in a refrigerator (2–8°C)
  • Protect from direct sunlight and moisture
  • Keep out of reach of children

Shelf Life:

24 months from the date of manufacture for the dry powder. Use within 14 days after reconstitution when stored refrigerated.

Discard unused reconstituted suspension after 14 days. Consult a pharmacist for proper disposal methods.
