Composition

Indications

Recommended Uses:

BCPOD-CV 50 is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections in children, including:

  • Otitis media (middle ear infection)
  • Pharyngitis and tonsillitis (throat infections)
  • Acute bacterial sinusitis
  • Community-acquired pneumonia
  • Skin and soft tissue infections
  • Urinary tract infections

Use only under prescription. Not effective against viral infections like the common cold or flu.

Dosage & Administration

Recommended Dosage:

Children (6 months to 12 years): 8 mg/kg/day of cefpodoxime (equivalent to 5 mL per 6.25 kg body weight) in two divided doses every 12 hours.
Duration: Typically 5-10 days, depending on the infection, as prescribed by a physician.
Children below 6 months: Not recommended unless specifically prescribed.

Administration:

  • Shake the bottle well before each use to ensure uniform suspension.
  • Administer with food to enhance absorption.
  • Use the provided measuring device for accurate dosing.

Complete the full course as prescribed, even if symptoms improve, to prevent antibiotic resistance.

Contraindications:

Storage Information

Storage Conditions:

  • Store dry powder at room temperature (20-25°C or 68-77°F).
  • Store reconstituted suspension in a refrigerator (2-8°C or 36-46°F).
  • Keep away from direct sunlight and moisture.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Shelf Life:

Dry powder: 24 months from the date of manufacture. Reconstituted suspension: 14 days when stored in a refrigerator. Do not use after the expiration date.

Discard unused reconstituted suspension after 14 days. Do not freeze the suspension.
